JAVA_HOME is an important environment variable and it’s important to get it right. However, the easiest way is to select OpenJDK 11 (LTS), the HotSpot JVM, and macOS 圆4 is to get the latest release here: Easy to follow details about how to install OpenJDK are available here. As I’m writing this, Java 11.0.9 is the latest LTS (Long Term Support) version and AdoptOpenJDK is one of the best places to find Prebuilt OpenJDK Binaries. Since OS X 10.7 Java is not (pre-)installed anymore, let’s fix that.
